Works as Editor

I have worked as an editor. I worked for two years, precisely between the years 2007 to 2009. A year after graduation, I started working formally as editor. I became an editor at a textbook publisher. Editor in charge of preparing books to be ready for printing.

Editor in collaboration with a lay outer and illustrator for preparing after book printing. If a setter works by using computer technology, then an editor only works dealing with text. Editors working face manuscripts submitted by the authors.

At first I get information about vacancies in the local newspaper in the city Surakarta. There are ads for vacancies to be an editor at a publishing house. Being an editor is my desire since college. Although I studied at the faculty of education, but I have not actually interested in becoming teachers.

From the entrance exam to the editor, I was faced with a variety of questions about grammar. Inside there EYD, effective sentences, dictionary and others. Actually I did not include people who are experts in the field. My knowledge for a student to be valuable capital to pass a written test editor.

A week after the written exam, I also got a call for an interview. There were about 10 people who called for an interview. I myself do not know who they are. Came my turn to interview. Head of personnel directly conduct the interview process. Apparently, the Head of Personnel is the grandson of the company founder. Success with a written test and an interview, I was feeling optimistic. A week later I got a call to start work. There I met with some old friends as well as editor of the new editor.

Along with me, there are 6 people editor received. They have expertise in their respective fields, including chemistry, PKN, physics, biology, economics and religion. The first day, we were introduced to the editorial policy, company policies and provided directly by the senior editor duties in accordance with their respective fields.

The new editor of the sixth, the longest is just me. There are among those who recently resigned two days straight, there is also the week. The longest lasted one month. I am determined to complete a two-year contract.

In two years it gained a lot of knowledge. Especially the science of world editing. Science is no less important is the science of publishing, of Books, printing and so on. Editor itself is divided into two, namely editors substance and language editors.

Substance editor is the editor in charge of editing the material in the manuscript of the author. The editor is who align language grammar used in the book. Sometimes, the two editors can co-exist. A substance editor can also be a languages editor simultaneously. And vice versa, the language editor can also become editor of the substance as well.

Valuable experience from an editor is the opportunity to be a writer. An editor has a great opportunity to become a writer. Why? Because an author and editor have close links. A writer will not be able to produce a quality book without an editor touch. Similarly, an editor not is careless preparing a book without the input or consent from the author.

This is a few of my little experience as an editor.
